We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to provide essential care and supervision to adult residential clients. The DSP will assist residents with daily living activities, promote independence, and ensure a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
● Personal Care: Assist clients with personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
● Mobility Assistance: Monitor residents mobility, including ability to transfer, and use mobility aids. Assist as needed. Report any significant change.
● Medication Management: Provide medication assistance per regulations and as prescribed. Monitor for side effects.
● Activities of Daily Living: Support clients with meal preparation, housekeeping, medication management, and laundry.
● Transportation: Provide transportation and/ or accompany on arranged transport to appointments, social outings, and community activities.
● Emotional Support: Offer companionship and emotional support, fostering a positive and respectful living environment.
● Health Monitoring: Observe and report any changes in clients’ health or behavior to healthcare professionals, and administration upon occurrence.
● Community Engagement: Encourage and assist clients in participating in social and recreational activities.
● Advocacy: Advocate for clients’ rights and needs, ensuring they have access to necessary resources and services.
● Documentation: Maintain accurate records of care provided. Chart residents progress through shift notes, tracking, and communication logs.
Qualifications:
● Criminal Records Clearance: Ability to pass criminal background checks with Federal & State
● Education: High school diploma or equivalent. DSP 1, and ability to obtain DSP 2 within (6) months of hire. Training or certification in caregiving or healthcare is a plus.
● Experience: Previous experience in a caregiving role, with elderly or disabled individuals, is preferred.
● Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
● Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and assisting with mobility.
● Certifications: DSP (1 & 2), CPR, First Aid Certification, CPI/ ProAct (or willingness to obtain).
● Health Clearances: Recent Physical, and TB screening, within 1Yr.
