Attorney

OVERVIEW:

As a Plaintiff Attorney specializing in tenants' rights law, you will represent tenants in legal disputes against landlords, property management companies, and other entities. Your primary role will be to advocate for the rights of tenants’ and ensure they receive fair treatment under housing laws and regulations. You will handle various cases, ranging from eviction defense to habitability issues, and work closely with clients to understand their needs and objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Case Management:

Manage a caseload of tenant rights cases, including eviction defense, lease disputes, habitability issues, and discrimination claims.

Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategies and arguments.

Draft legal documents, including complaints, motions, discovery requests, and settlement agreements.

2. Client Representation:

Provide legal counsel and representation to tenants throughout the legal process.

Communicate effectively with clients to understand their concerns, explain legal options, and develop case strategies.

Advocate for clients' interests in negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings.

3. Courtroom Advocacy:

Represent clients in hearings, trials, and other court proceedings.

Present oral arguments effectively and persuasively.

Cross-examine witnesses and respond to opposing counsel's arguments.

4. Legal Analysis and Strategy:

Analyze relevant laws, regulations, and precedents to assess the strengths and weaknesses of cases.

Develop creative legal strategies to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.

Stay up-to-date on developments in tenant rights law and relevant legal precedents.

5. Collaboration:

Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff within the firm to provide comprehensive legal services to clients.

Work closely with advocacy organizations and community groups to support tenants' rights initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Admission to the state bar and in good standing.

Previous experience in tenant rights law or related areas such as housing law, landlord-tenant law, or civil litigation.

Strong advocacy skills, including oral and written communication, negotiation, and courtroom presentation.

Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.

Commitment to social justice and advocating for marginalized communities.

Fluency in relevant laws and regulations governing tenant-landlord relationships.

Empathy, patience, and a dedication to serving clients with integrity and professionalism.
