Seeking a temporary Litigation Docket Specialist with 2+ years of experience for a 4-month assignment to be responsible for managing and maintaining the legal docketing system, effectively review court deadlines and work closely with legal teams to review court filings, monitor rules and procedures, and update the docket database. Also provide comprehensive administrative and filing support, assists in departmental initiatives, special projects, and handle a variety of docketing and calendaring tasks.

Responsibilities:

Calculate, record, and docket litigation related deadlines in state and federal courts, arbitrations and mediations, and monitoring communications/reports

Review court filings, orders, and notices to identify important dates and requirements; enter case information, activity, and deadlines into docket system

Ensure compliance with court rules, local procedures, and firm policies regarding docketing

Communicate/coordinate with case teams to review and confirm court deadlines and instructions; communicate deadlines and changes to case teams promptly

Research and monitor cases with the use of online resources, and provide court filing and service information

Respond promptly and professionally to information requests from attorneys and staff regarding docketed dates, agency and court rules and procedures

Generate calendar reports/queries for case teams and generate custom docket reports/queries

Assist with service and filing of court documents

eFile in Federal, State, and Appellate Courts

Assist with development of department policies, procedures, and innovation related projects

Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent training/legal experience). Strong working knowledge of Illinois Civil Practice Law and Rules, Federal Rules of Civil and Appellate Procedure, and ability to navigate other bodies of rules/procedures. Proficiency with docketing software (eDockets, CompuLaw, CourtAlert) for calendaring and reporting. Knowledge of various court websites, docket searching and document retrieval databases (PACER, LexisNexis, Westlaw, File & ServeXpress). Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment; Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills with strong collaborative skills and flexibility to adapt to changing department procedures.

Hours are 9am-5:30pm (Occasional OT and travel to local courts and agencies)

Hourly rate is $34 - $37
