Title: High Speed Digital Board Design Engineer

Location: Remote - ideally able to travel to client sites in CA or NH a few times per year

Duration: 6-12 months - extensions are highly likely

Clearance: Active Secret preferred not required - can hold up to TS

Seeking a High-Speed Digital Board Design Engineer who wants to be involved with a fast-paced and dynamic company. You will be involved with the implementation of new EW systems, with an emphasis on hardware development of digital products and full system configuration. This individual will assist with the design of many board-level and system-level components, with the digital design as the primary focus.

Requirements

  • Experience with designing VME/VPX/CPCI or equivalent style PCBAs.
  • Expert use of CAD/CAE tools for schematic capture (Orcad + Allegro) as well as simulation, including both circuit design and board design,
  • Experience with Xilinx FPGAs and infrastructure (AXI4) as well as embedded hardware design experience.
  • Familiar with DSP principles and algorithms, as well as design principles of analog circuits, from DC to microwave.
  • Familiar with lab equipment including, but not limited to, spectrum analyzer, function & signal generators, and oscilloscopes.
  • Prior experience with building digital hardware boards for large and complex electronic warfare systems.
  • Experience with High-Speed Interfaces (DDR, Serial Communications, etc.) for memories, FPGAs, and processors.
  • Experience with Design Analysis and Timing Closure as well as experience with FPGA Design + Simulation Tools (Quartus/Vivado, ModelSim, QuestaSim).

Responsibilities

  • Lead design efforts through actions which include, but are not limited to, coordinating staff in the design effort, monitoring/mentoring/supporting entry-level engineers, and ensuring the design meets the system requirements.
  • Design, test, and integration of FPGA based products including digital signal processing (DSP), high speed communications, and system-on-chip (SOC).
  • Prepare detailed block diagrams of the system design and identify any potential issues.
  • Work to find the optimal implementation that meets system requirements and results in a high-quality product or propose alternative solutions when no implementation is readily available.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop test benches and troubleshoot technical issues in the lab.
  • Lead the design review process, document the results, and execute the changes, while upholding hardware design standards and methodologies.
  • Contribute to design, simulation, verification, integration, and test of complex, high-speed digital products.
  • Produce and archive all necessary documentation for the design to ensure manufacturability, ongoing technical support as well as customer support.

Education

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering
