Visit dignityhealth.org/northridgehospital for more information.TransporterPatient Transportation Dept.Northridge Hospital Medical CenterThe Patient Transporter performs tasks that are directly involved with the transportation of patients and specimens within the hospital and/or dispatching of transporters for patients to and from all departments as needed in order to provide timely and consistent delivery. Assists nursing with the lifting/moving of patients when necessary to ensure a smooth transport process for the customers. Transports patients in gurneys or wheelchairs in a safe and courteous manner.Responsibilities
Transports patients as requested by transport dispatcher or supervisor/lead according to priority.
Acts as transport dispatcher when assigned, communicating instructions to other transporters.
Demonstrates responsibility for patient safety while in transit.
Observes standard precautions and uses the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for task.
Maintains accurate records of all patients, specimens and medications being transported.
Maintains cleanliness of wheelchairs and gurneys.
Consistently uses safety equipment to protect self and others.
Consistently utilizes proper body mechanics and patient handling techniques.
Arranges, moves and/or transports furniture, beds, boxes, offices, equipment, supplies, etc., as requested by transport dispatcher or supervisor, according to priority.
Documents and reports items needing repair and hazardous conditions requiring correction.
Transports patients per departmental procedures (ensuring patients are transported as comfortably, courteously, quickly and safely as possible).
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
High School diploma required.
Minimum six months recent work experience in a medical office hospital/ acute care environment required.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
Fire Safety Card within 90 days of hire.
