Zay’z Artisanal Deli is looking for a Part-Time Baker Apprentice to assist with early-morning dough production. This role is ideal for someone interested in bread, fermentation, and scratch cooking who wants hands-on experience in a growing artisanal deli.
This is a learning-forward position with the opportunity to grow as the business expands.
Schedule:
- Part-time: approximately 2-4 days per week
- Early mornings 5:00am–1:00p
- Consistent weekly schedule
Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily focaccia dough production
- Measure, mix, and scale ingredients accurately
- Learn and execute dough hydration, fermentation, and timing
- Prepare dough for baking according to established recipes
- Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work area
- Follow all health and safety standards
- Support overall kitchen prep as needed during morning production which may include slicing meats and cheese, prepping produce, and some light commissary cooking.
- Additional work is to be discussed regarding sandwich and salad making.
Ideal Candidate:
- Interested in bread baking, fermentation, or scratch cooking
- Comfortable working early morning hours
- Detail-oriented and consistent
- Reliable and punctual
- Physically able to handle ingredients, mixing, and medium-to-heavy lifting
- Open to learning and taking feedback
- Previous baking or kitchen experience is a plus, but not required
