Maxar is currently seeking a Propulsion Component Engineer to join our team. Life with Us In this role, you will test and qualify propulsion components, manage vendor development of propulsion hardware, and develop innovative solutions that lower cost and improve performance of propulsion systems. Components may include cold gas and electric thrusters, pressure vessels and tanks, fluid management, and plumbing for bipropellant and monopropellant systems. This position is based in Palo Alto, with the option of hybrid work.Responsibilities What you'll do day-to-day (with your colleagues):- Collaborate with key suppliers to develop and qualify hybrid and custom hardware that meets our requirements
- Manage technical details of vendor development efforts for subcontracted components
- Prepare propulsion hardware performance specifications and test requirements
- Prepare test plans and reports. Oversee qualification and acceptance testing
- Assess nonconforming hardware to determine appropriate course of action
- Generate 3D models of new propulsion components
- Perform thermal and structural analysis
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; Master's degree will be considered in lieu of 2 years of professional experience
- Knowledge of aerospace component engineering
- Experience with 3D modeling and creation of manufacturing drawings
- Knowledge of pressurized hardware components used for aerospace applications
- Familiar with relevant government and industry standards, such as AIAA-S-080, AIAA-S-081B, SMC-S-025
