2024 Summer Internship Location: This role is scheduled to be 100% remote. While remote, finalists MUST reside in a one of the following states to be eligible for employment with Kaiser Permanente: CA, CO, DC, GA, HI, MD, NY, OR, VA, or WA. Team Overview: The Data Science team over the years has architected and developed on-prem and cloud platforms to support AI/ML applications for Kaiser Permanente. In addition, it is also developing a suite of these applications for KP’s care delivery (clinical) and health plan functions. The team works closely with various internal and external stakeholders to solicit requirements and apply the right technologies and AI/ML techniques to deliver on the requirements. The team is composed of professionals highly skilled in all aspects of data science as well as systems architecture and development. Project: The candidates chosen for this role will augment the team to help develop these solutions. Based on individual skills and interests, and the priorities of the team, they will work in areas such as AI (genAI, LLMs, etc.), image processing, natural language processing, sentiment analysis, etc., and perform these activities on industry-leading on-prem and cloud platforms. Desired Skillset: The candidates will have a relevant blend of the following: · All aspects of data science · Working knowledge of the latest AI techniques (genAI, LLMs, …) · Deep knowledge of cloud platforms and infrastructure, MS Azure preferred. · Familiarity with GPU- and in-memory based architectures and tradeoffs · Deep knowledge of the Python ecosystem · Domain / industry knowledge is highly recommended: e.g. neuroscience. · Solid data architecture discipline, including data quality, data privacy and security, and data governance. · Ability to work independently and as a team, and to organize workload effectively. · Creative mindset to brainstorm new ideas.
