Your work will have real-world impact, and you’ll be supported in achieving your career goals.How will you make an impact?You may be required to manufacture Oligonucleotides from start to finish, including but not limited to synthesis, formulation, purification, QC and analysis as per Standard Operating Procedures in the Custom Formulations lab. You will need to exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.You will normally receives general instruction on routine work, detailed instruction on new assignments. Once trained, you will plan the use of equipment, materials and own time and contribute ideas and suggestions to improve processes.What will you do?

Performs direct labor to produce and/or qualify oligos as per manufacturing specifications

Understand scientific principles in order to problem solve, troubleshoot test results, evaluate alternative choices and help exercise judgment in selecting the best solution. Help provide decision options and corresponding logic/data behind the decisions. Proactively identifies production problems.

Balance multiple tasks. Demonstrate knowledge in the use of basic lab techniques and basic computer knowledge. Demonstrate the ability to meet standards as defined by the manufacturing process.

Continuously strive to improve output goals. Demonstrate good time management resulting in efficiency. Support cost improvement initiatives by reducing failures, improving capacity and using supplies wisely. Reduce work in process, queues and cycle times.

Operates laboratory equipment which may include but not limited to DNA synthesizers and associated equipment, Robots, HPLC, centrifuge, labelers, dryers, pipettes and other automated equipment used in the Oligo manufacturing labs

Follows special instructions and Standard Operating Procedures for Custom orders, maintains production records and adheres to ISO 13485 standards

Perform equipment troubleshooting and preventive maintenance activities for the different manufacturing equipment

Perform manual pipetting, tubing and labeling

Involves working with chemicals and use of hood

Make detailed observations and basic data analysis

Maintain complete and thorough lab paperwork and notebook

Advise supervisor of factors that may affect quality, accuracy, timeliness and usefulness of data

The job encounters recurring work situations with variations from the norm, involving a moderate degree of complexity. Employee will work on problems where analysis of situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors. Accuracy is required in performing all functions of this position. Mistakes in work could cause substantial interpretive errors. The Scientist I complies with all company safety regulations and procedures.How will you get here?EducationBS/BA in life science.Experience

2 – 3 years lab experience or equivalent.

Experience with Oligonucleotide Synthesis on 3900 Synthesizer plaform, AKTA Oligo Pilot, AKTA Explorers, HPLC purification and analysis on Agilent and ChemStation software, Capillary Electrophoresis is nice to have.

Experience with various pipettes, MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrophotometry, LCMS is nice to have.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Ability to work independently

Great communicator

Strong computer skills including familiarity with relevant software (Excel and Word) are required
