Our Redding, California office is seeking a Survey Crew Chief. Our firm has offices in two states and work is shared between offices to maintain a stable workload and a variety of project opportunities. We need an experienced and knowledgeable individual with the ability to lead a survey crew and expand their personal capabilities using Trimble Business Center and Trimble survey equipment. This individual must have a strong commitment to providing clients with high quality and cost-effective services, with supervision by professional surveyors and engineers.
Duties include a variety of field and office survey tasks for all phases of private and public works projects. The position requires a familiarity with the general concepts and practices of related field and office responsibilities. Specific equipment to be used includes Trimble Business Center, Trimble S6 robotic total station, Trimble R10 GPS base station and rover, and Trimble TSC3 controllers. In addition, familiarity and interest in UAS surveying tools and techniques is a benefit.
Requires proven experience needed to:
Set up, adjust and operate Trimble equipment
Supervise survey crew to assure efficient and accurate collection of data used to create survey documents and complete construction surveys
Safely complete field work in all types of weather
Complete office work using computers, reviewing surveying and engineering documents to complete related tasks
Work safely in construction areas around heavy equipment and traffic, on uneven surfaces, walking for extended period, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
Evaluate and understand the details of printed and digital information to assure accuracy of field work
Generate data transfers between Trimble equipment, Trimble Business Center, and Autocad Civil 3D
Apply logical & scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, & develop valid conclusions and computations based on technical surveying principles & standards
Utilize logical or mathematic thinking to define problems; process abstract and concrete variables; collect and record data; establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Work proactively with property owners, including occasional encounters with unhappy people in strained situations
