Job Title:Bartender
Report to:Bar Owner
Position Summary: Enthusiastic Bartender to provide an excellent guest drinking experience. Good Bartenders will be able to create classic and innovative drinks exceeding customers’ needs and expectations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities: Verify customers age by checking their ID. Mix traditional and creative cocktails. Process payments for all alcohol served. Make suggestions based on customer tastes and preferences. Build a rapport with regular and new customers to create a positive atmosphere. Bartenders also must interact with customers, verifying they are old enough to be served alcohol, and building relationships that turn visitors into regulars. Provides a pleasant drinking experience to customers. Serves drinks while maintaining a clean and sanitary bar area. Attends to the detail and presentation of each order.
Responsible for the cleanliness and stock of the bar, ensuring there are clean glasses, plenty of garnishes prepared and that everything is tidy. Adheres to proper alcohol handling, sanitation, and safety procedures. Maintains appropriate dating, labeling and rotation of all beverage items. Clean bar off, clean glasses and bar utensils. Record and balance cash receipts and secure the money is put in the safe.
From a business aspect, bartenders must be trusted with measuring the appropriate amounts of liquor for different recipes, making recommendations for customers, opening, and tracking cash sales and tips.
Specific Job Skills:
Knowledge of different types of alcohol, drink recipes and pairings, along with the ability to deal with customers in various moods. Must maintain trustworthiness and accountability.
Have woking knowledge of opening, closing and securing the facility. Ensues proper use of supplies and equipment through training and development of procedures. Demonstrated knowkedge of and skill in ability to safely and effectively operate standard beverage service equipment. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Qualifications:
Minimum two (2) years of bar or restaurant experience to include drink preparation. Current beverage service certification or other certification as required by federal/state/local law. Must possess comprehensive knowledge of bartending procedures. Must have knowledge of applicable laws and regulations and the ability to enforce company policies regarding the consumption of alcohol. Familiar with point-of -sale computers and software. Must have excellent verbal communication skills. The ability to adapt to a fast paced and changing work environment. Strong attention to detail. Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities. Ability to deal with problems involing several concete variables in standardized situations. Knowledge of safety rules, hazards, and aplication of accident prevention methods.
