Now Hiring: Night Security Officer (Residential Property Patrol – Sacramento, CA)
Schedule: Nightly from 11:00 PM – 5:00 AM
Reports To: Onsite Property Management
Position Overview
We are seeking a professional and dependable Night Security Officer to protect and patrol a large residential property. The officer will maintain a strong security presence, conduct thorough foot patrols, and ensure the safety and peace of all residents.
This position requires alertness, integrity, and strict adherence to procedures—no sleeping, idling, or remaining inside vehicles for extended periods during the shift.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Active Patrol
Remain onsite and perform continuous foot patrols throughout the property.
Patrol all areas on a rotating schedule, covering key locations such as:
Perimeter Gates & Access Points
Inspect all vehicle and pedestrian gates.
Ensure gates are closed, latched, and locked.
Secure and document any gates found open or tampered with.
Vacant Units
Walk all areas where vacant units are located at least three times per night (early, mid, late).
Look for signs of trespassing, vandalism, or forced entry.
Report and document any suspicious or unauthorized activity immediately.
Pool Area
Confirm the pool gate is locked and the area is empty (pool is closed 24 hours).
Conduct multiple checks each shift.
Direct and document anyone found inside the pool enclosure.
Parking Lots
Patrol all carports and open parking areas.
Watch for suspicious behavior, loitering, vehicle tampering, or break-ins.
Escalate any active thefts or break-ins immediately.
Common Areas / Amenities
courtyards, lawns, walkways, mail areas, and stairwells.
Disperse loiterers and non-residents.
Address and report instances of drug use, alcohol consumption, disturbances, or vandalism.
2. Visibility & Deterrence
Maintain a visible, professional presence at all times.
Patrols must be on foot, not drive-through only.
Use verbal commands only physical force is prohibited except in lawful self-defense.
3. Resident Contact
Officer must provide a direct phone line available between 11:00 PM and 5:00 AM for residents to report disturbances or suspicious activity.
Calls must be answered in real time while on duty.
4. Reporting & Escalation Procedures
Immediate / Emergency Situations (Call 911 First)
Violence, weapons, break-ins in progress, fire, or medical emergencies.
Notify:
The property manager
Follow with a full written report.
Urgent but Non-Emergency Issues
Unsecured gates, forced entry evidence, repeated trespassers, or pool violations.
Notify Property and Maintenance Manager
Routine Observations
Include in the nightly report (no call needed unless there’s a safety concern).
5. Daily Written Report (Due by 6:30 AM)
Attach photos for any serious incidents.

Remain alert, sober, professional, and in full uniform.
Maintain respectful conduct with residents and staff—no harassment or bias tolerated.
Do not accept tips, gifts, or instructions from residents.
Missed patrols or failure to report are considered non-performance.
8. Acknowledgment
By accepting this position, the officer agrees to:
Provide nightly patrols from 11:00 PM – 5:00 AM
Maintain active communication with residents and management
Submit required written reports each morning
Notify management immediately if unable to cover a shift
