Description Our client, a reputable and fast-growing construction company based in San Diego, is seeking a skilled Staff Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. With a focus on commercial and residential construction projects, this company is known for its strong industry presence and commitment to excellence. Prepare and maintain general ledger entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and construction industry standards.
Manage and track project costs, including labor, materials, and overhead, ensuring proper allocation and budgeting for each project.
Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports specific to construction projects.
Process invoices, track payments, and manage accounts payable/receivable, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.
Perform bank and general ledger reconciliations, ensuring accuracy of all accounts related to ongoing construction projects.
Utilize industry-specific ERP software (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint, Sage 300 Construction) to track and report on project financials, manage budgets, and generate financial reports.
Assist with project budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, collaborating with project managers and executives to ensure financial targets are met.
Prepare documentation for audits and assist in audit processes, ensuring compliance with internal controls and industry regulations.
Work closely with project managers, estimators, and the finance team to ensure accurate financial tracking of each construction project.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2+ years of accounting experience in the construction industry.
Proficiency in construction-specific ERP software (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint, Sage 300 Construction, or similar).
Strong understanding of job costing, project financials, and construction accounting principles.
Advanced skills in MS Excel and other accounting tools/software.
Solid knowledge of GAAP and construction financial reporting standards.
High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
