This Statement of Work covers the need for student services to provide technical and analytical support in the fields of computer science, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering in support of the Reverse Engineering, Science, & Technology for Obsolescence, Restoration, and Evaluation (RESTORE) project. The RESTORE Project is part of the Advanced Manufacturing Service Center. The purposeof this project is to use Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to capture geometric information onboard the ship.The purpose of the RESTORE project is to inspect ships for maintenance issues. The project uses a UAV to perform automated inspections. This allows data to be collected in a way that is readily comparable between inspections. The UAV uses a variety of sensor payloads in order to identify a variety of potential maintenance issues. In order to increase the accuracy of the data received, both the payload hardware and computer vision software require improvement.The student shall assist the work sponsor in:Computer Science support:

Writing testing, and documenting software for sensor integration onto unmanned vehicles.

Writing software to use sensor data to reconstruct the local area’s geometry.

Writing software with machine learning and computer vision applications.

Perform state-of-the-art literature reviews to help assess new robotic technologies.

Engineering support:

Assist with design, construction, and evaluation of sensor payload.

Assist with integration of sensor onto actual vehicles.

Assist with the development and implementation of real world test plans to assess computer vision software performance.

Must have course work in the discipline requested on the task order Statement of Work. The student must be at the Junior or Senior level and have experience in 50% of the task requirements and be able to accomplish 50% of the work independently.REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Computer Science major (Junior or Senior)

Required Course Work:

ECE 30: Introduction to Computer Engineering.

ECE 45: Circuits and Systems / Intro to Digital Signal Processing.

ECE 65: Components and Circuits Lab / Intro to Transistors in Circuits.

Math 20E: Vector Calculus II

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

Experience with Python programming

Experience with ROS

Experience with Raspberry Pi

Ability to read and implement technical documents

Experience with real time robotic systems
