Byron Edwards & Lemley, APC is an established insurance defense law firm with an office in downtown San Diego. We are looking for a civil litigation attorney to join our fast-paced team. Our firm specializes in defense of design professionals including architects and engineers. If chosen as the successful candidate, you will be responsible for case management, discovery, making appearances in court (virtually and/or in person as the court may require), and assisting in matters, including trials.

Responsibilities:

Handle cases from initial intake including meeting with clients and project file review.

Provide legal advice to clients, assessing the facts and issues of each scenario and counseling clients accordingly.

Plan and execute a discovery plan, including case management orders.

Work with legal staff to ensure that all pre-trial motions, pleadings, and discovery documents are prepared and completed in a timely manner.

Prepare documents including letters, status updates, stipulations, and the like based on client needs.

Propound and respond to discovery, depositions, and motions; prepare trial briefs.

Assist with trial preparation.

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

J.D. and active California Bar license

1 to 4 years of civil litigation experience

Strong oral advocacy and writing skills

Knowledge of civil procedure, trial procedure and evidence code.

Ability to work with people in a collaborative work environment.

The following qualifications are preferred:

Knowledge of construction defect law

Jury trial experience

Extensive law and motion experience

Position is full-time, exempt. Our business hours are 8:30am-5:00pm Monday- Friday.
