About the RoleUber is looking to add a Senior Tax Counsel to our Global Tax Planning & Strategy team! This role will report to our Director, Tax Counsel will lead both M&A and internal tax planning projects. This is an amazing opportunity to join our Tax team and make an immediate impact. Monitor existing and proposed tax legislation, assess planning opportunities, and identify/recommend initiatives to the Director, Tax Counsel, and VP of Tax

Advise cross-functional teams on M&A and internal tax planning projects

Perform tax diligence and provide structuring advice with respect to acquisition and dispositions

Partner with key contacts in legal, operations, corporate development, finance, and treasury to identify and implement tax planning strategies and minimize potential tax risks

Review contracts and collaborate with legal to ensure contracts contain key terms consistent with the global tax structure

Mentor, lead, and serve as a technical resource for more junior team members

Work with a global tax team

Basic Qualifications

JD required, with active membership in a state bar

Minimum 8 years of experience in an accounting firm, law firm, and/or in-house at a multi-national corporate group with a solid understanding of US federal income taxes & M&A concepts, including complex corporate transaction experience

Preferred Qualifications

Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with the senior management team and coordinate with other teams within Uber

Strong tax research and tax analytical skills

Experience working with and in a cross-functional team

Knowledge of US international tax rules (GILTI, FDII, SubF) and US federal tax rules for partnerships

Experience with taxation of financial instruments and treasury-related projects

Clear communication of legal concepts and ability to develop a positive narrative regarding tax positions

Demonstrated ability to provide clear advice in a dynamic environment

Ability to clearly communicate recommendations based on risk analysis in a highly ambiguous environment

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$232,000 per year - USD$258,000 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
