Description Are you an experienced accountant with a keen eye for accuracy? Robert Half has an exciting opportunity at a rapidly-growing organization in the Non-Profit industry for a Staff Accountant. Based in the San Jose, California area, this exciting short-term contract / temporary opportunity is set in an engaging work place where hard work is rewarded. In this role, the Staff Accountant holds responsibility for preparing monthly and year-end closings, fixed asset maintenance, journal entries, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position spends a fair amount of time producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Many aspects of internal reporting will be your responsibility during the monthly close. You'll also review schedules for the reporting processes, stay in touch with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and play an active role in compliance.Your responsibilities
Partake in annual closing processes
Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Maintain monthly payment schedules
Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management
Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision Requirements - Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Proficient in ERP systems
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Vow to meet business deadlines
Strong familiarity with Accounts Payable (AP)
Expertise in Accounts Receivable (AR)
ADP - Payroll experience
Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
