Our teachers work in collaboration with the teaching staff, director, and parent community to support high-quality Early Childhood Education programming for children and families. This position is for a co-lead teacher in our mixed-age 3-5yo Nature Program. Our Nature program runs Monday through Thursday in Glen Canyon from 9am-1pm. The position designs and leads developmentally appropriate, relationship-, project-, and play-based curriculum with a focus on knowledge of the natural world, social-emotional development, and Anti-Bias education for our inclusive community. Approximately 30% of our children receive or have been referred for early intervention. This position is primarily intended to work in our nature program and attend staff meetings on campus. Applicants must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be comfortable working closely with families. Teachers attend and contribute to our weekly afternoon staff meeting as part of our cohesive teaching team.
About Slippery Fish
Slippery Fish is a cooperative, play-based, inclusion preschool with programs for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Through play and developmentally appropriate practice, teachers and teaching-parents/guardians support the interests and needs of each child. Our programs incorporate emergent, project-based learning and Anti-Bias curriculum into children's experiences in the classroom. Key Responsibilities
Collaboratively supports nature program curriculum, interactions, flow, and safety with a co-teacher and teaching-parents/guardians
Contributes to a joyful environment with a positive and nurturing attitude, words, and tone
Works with staff and parents/guardians to support the developmentally appropriate curriculum and positive approaches to supporting children's development
Supports teaching-parents/guardians to learn how to best inspire and nurture children while ensuring the well-being, safety, and inclusion of all children
Works comfortably in a team to create a professional, positive, safe, healthy, and inspiring atmosphere in which children can flourish
Attends school functions and pertinent meetings
Maintains confidential records with high ethical and professional standards
Maintains a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required
Flexibility to work within a dynamic team and explore new ways to support the growth and development of individual children
Love of the outdoors in all weather and seasons (or the ability to wear appropriate clothing and continue to inspire children to explore)
Must be capable of lifting children, stooping, squatting, sitting on the floor, running, crawling, reaching up, and climbing trees
Highly organized; strong computer, oral, and written communication skills
Knowledge of and experience with Positive Discipline, social-emotional development, project-based and emergent curriculum principles
Experience working with children with a range of developmental needs
Must be able to change diapers
Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification, Fingerprinting, Health screening, and all other requirements defined by California law
A sense of humor doesn’t hurt

Required Education / Skills / Experience: BA in Early Childhood Education or related field OR 10+ Years of Experience
Special Consideration Given For Any Of The Following:
Early Intervention / Special Education education or experience
Experience guiding adults in a classroom
Site Supervisor permit
Parent education or cooperative preschool experience
Multilingual
Job Type / Benefits:
20 hrs/wk position
12 paid holidays & Sick Time
After 1 year of service: 9+ weeks of paid holidays/breaks and 1 additional week of vacation time
CARES Stipend eligible (Range of $6,000 - $7,000 for part-time position depending on education)
