About the Role:
Marina Seafood Dockside Patio, a modern seafood restaurant on the Berkeley Marina, is seeking an experienced Sous Chef & Kitchen Manager to lead our back-of-house operations. You’ll oversee kitchen management, mentor staff, and collaborate with ownership to create menus highlighting fresh, locally sourced seafood. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about seafood cuisine and leading a dynamic kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage kitchen operations, ensuring quality and consistency.
Train and supervise kitchen staff, fostering teamwork and efficiency.
Develop menus with the Owner, focusing on fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Oversee inventory, food costs, and ordering, maintaining budget targets.
Maintain cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards in the kitchen.
Manage Back-Of-House (BOH) scheduling and oversee food preparation and expediting.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
Lead private event catering and menu preparation.
What We’re Looking For:
4+ years of experience as a Sous Chef in upscale casual dining.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to thrive under pressure and manage a high-performing team.
Knife and cooking equipment expertise.
Bilingual skills are a plus.
Catering and seafood restaurant experience are preferred, but not required.
