Alameda County General Services Agency is seeking a Building Equipment Maintenance Worker to do preventive and corrective maintenance and repair work on equipment in County buildings. Duties include repair work on plumbing, boilers, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical/electronic, and related equipment.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all duties listed.

1. Operate, test, install, and perform corrective and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment and systems; plumbing systems and components; electrical, electronic, alarm and computer controlled systems; emergency generators and components.

2. Operate and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration systems and related equipment in accordance with operations, safety, and regulatory requirements.

3. Assist Stationary Engineers, Electricians, or Plumbers in general repairs.

4. May assist in fabrication installation and repair of various metal/sheet-metal objects and perform general machine shop work using proper techniques, a wide variety of tools, equipment, and measuring devices.

5. May operate and maintain low pressure boilers and related equipment, in accordance with operations, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

◊ The equivalent of two years of recent, full-time paid experience in the maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment.

◊ California Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.

◊ Must possess a class I and II CFC (Chloro-Fluoro-Carbon) Certificate.

Special Requirement:

If selected, applicants are required to obtain and maintain an Alameda County Sheriff’s Office security clearance.

Additional Information:

◊ Work hours are 6:30 am – 3:00 pm, Monday – Friday, but must be able to work any shift, as needed.
