Join the County of Sonoma Human Services Department (HSD) as a Family, Youth, and Children (FYC) Section Manager!
Starting salary up to $72.57/hour ($151,462/year) plus a competitive total compensation package!
The Family, Youth, and Children Section Manager is responsible for overseeing critical programs within the Family, Youth, and Children Division of the Human Services Department, including Intake/Hotline, Emergency Response, and Training. The Section Manager will provide direct supervision, oversight, and direction to six Child Protective Services Social Work Supervisors and will oversee a section of the Division that includes approximately 45 employees. They will also collaborate with FYC's four other Section Managers as well as the larger management team to plan for and meet all the agency’s ongoing business needs. Additional responsibilities include:
Interpreting Welfare and Institution Codes and new state and federal directives
Assisting in setting new policies and procedures for division services
Interpreting and implementing recommendations from statewide committees
Informing staff of new and updated program changes
Managing the budget, recruitment, and hiring process for various division programs
Attending community, regional, and statewide meetings representing Sonoma County Family, Youth, and Children’s Services
Managing external communications and relationships with community partners including community-based organizations, individual providers, schools, and law enforcement
Facilitating relationships with local Tribes in order to best serve shared citizens
Supporting critical safety decisions regarding response time of services and immediate child safety
The ideal candidate will possess:
Significant experience in Child Protective Services or in a program working with youth and families that are involved in the Child Welfare system
Experience managing high-volume workload environments
An aptitude for developing continuous operational quality improvement frameworks
Strong supervision and program management experience
An understanding of Trauma-Informed Care and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
Experiential knowledge of strategies for measuring, managing, and reporting program performance standards
A thorough understanding of budget and funding sources at the federal, state, and county levels
Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with external partners and stakeholders
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills and a proficient understanding of the statewide CWS/CMS databases
A Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field is desired but not required
Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is desired but not required
