Private Home - Paid through an Agency (GT Independence)
This position is for an aide for an adult developmentally disabled female in a manual wheelchair for some in home care, with a majority of the time being spent doing outings in the community, including field trips, helping at volunteers jobs, supervising and assisting with shopping and many other various activities.
Hours: M-F 8am to 3pm
Provide In-home and in-community assistance and companionship to sweet, fun, and loving developmentally disabled adult woman who requires 24-7 care.
Clients is non-weight bearing and uses a manual wheelchair, requiring the aide to propel the wheelchair outside of home.
Home is outfitted with ceiling lift system in bedrooms and bathrooms to lift and move client for bed/wheelchair transfers, dressing and toileting
Client has access to ramp wheelchair vans for outings in the community
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Assistance with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and diapering/toileting
Taking client for community outings including shopping and fun activities - Must have CDL and Clean DMV
Meal preparation, assistance feeding and clean-up
Light housekeeping
Medical Oriented Assistance – giving medications
Engaging and interacting with client throughout your time together with their favorite interests and activities
Enjoying playing and having fun with clients
Help with care of pets (dog and/or cat)
Follow specific care plans for clients and report on completed tasks
Pay and Benefits:
$35/hour
Opportunity to work additional shifts as they become available
Training provided
Most meals with clients included for employee
Position Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age
Valid Driver’s License
Must register with the agency GT Independence, pass background check, and complete payroll requirements to receive pay
Ability to work with limited supervision
Nurturing and compassionate nature with the desire to care for others
Have the COVID-19 vaccinations (at least 3)
Have patience and empathy for those with disabilities, delight in caring for them
Good communication and interpersonal skills (English required)
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Must be a team player and work well with others
Must be able to perform tasks requiring moderate physical strength and agility, such as bending, pulling, pushing wheelchairs, assisted lifting, etc.
Pass a state Live Scan background check going back to your 18th birthday
