Vacancy expired!
Hi, thank you for reading my ad.
I am currently seeking an attendant/caregiver to join my team. Please feel free to apply even if you have no experience, a desire to assist me and become part of my community is great.
I was born with a genetic condition called spinal muscular atrophy, it causes muscle weakness. I use a wheelchair for mobility and require assistance with all daily living and hygiene tasks. I am a freshman at UC Berkeley, intelligent, talkative, and very social. I live in the dorms and keeping my space welcoming, clean and organized as possible.
There is a lot of personal interactions necessary to complete all aspects of my personal care (Bathing, dressing, toileting, nail, hair care, etc.) and general homemaker care (light household chores, trash/recycling removal, laundry).
You should be physically fit, energetic, strong (able to lift/push/pull 50 pounds), fun, reliable, trustworthy, detail oriented, hold things in complete confidence (no gossiping), able to follow verbal instructions, willing to learn new things and “go with the flow” type of attitude. Other than physical needs, I’m a typical college student, so my needs and desires change and it’s important that you can be flexible and willing to do a wide range of tasks.
All are welcome to apply. Please tell me a little bit about yourself as an individual. I’m not as interested in your abilities as a caregiver as I am about you and your character.
Rate of pay is negotiable and competitive. However, you must register with IHSS. Unfortunately, I cannot consider anyone that are unable to register with IHSS.
I have multiple shifts available, some shifts as short as one hour, and other shifts over 4 hours.
Thank you,
Lucas Cook
