Position Overview
Alameda Fitness & Spa is seeking an experienced, motivated CrossFit Manager to lead and grow our CrossFit program. This role is responsible for coaching excellence, staff leadership, member experience, and day-to-day operations of the CrossFit department. The ideal candidate is a strong leader, passionate coach, and community builder who thrives in a dynamic fitness environment and is open to evolving responsibilities as business needs change.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching & Programming
Coach CrossFit classes with an emphasis on safety, proper mechanics, and scalability
Design and oversee programming for beginner through advanced athletes
Ensure consistent movement standards, scaling options, and injury-prevention practices
Maintain a high level of coaching quality and professionalism
Leadership & Staff Management
Hire, train, schedule, and mentor CrossFit coaches
Lead staff meetings, continuing education, and performance evaluations
Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented coaching culture
Serve as the primary leader and representative of the CrossFit program
Operations & Administration
Manage class schedules, attendance, and daily department operations
Ensure training spaces and equipment are safe, clean, and well-maintained
Collaborate with the Assistant General Manager and General Manager on budgeting, payroll, and operational planning
Utilize membership management software to track performance and participation metrics
Member Experience & Retention
Create an inclusive, welcoming, and motivating environment
Oversee athlete onboarding and long-term development pathways
Build strong member relationships to support retention and satisfaction
Address member feedback and concerns professionally and promptly
Business Growth & Community Engagement
Support program growth through events, challenges, specialty programs, and referrals
Assist with marketing initiatives and community outreach
Collaborate with other departments to enhance the overall member experience
Uphold and promote the Alameda Fitness & Spa brand and values
Flexibility & Additional Duties
Demonstrate flexibility in responsibilities and scheduling based on operational needs
Be open to changes in role scope, programming, or procedures as the business evolves
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant General Manager or General Manager
Required Qualifications
CrossFit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1) certification (minimum)
Current CPR/AED & First Aid certification
2–5+ years of CrossFit coaching experience
Prior leadership or management experience in a fitness setting
Strong knowledge of Olympic lifting, gymnastics, and functional training
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
Preferred Qualifications
CrossFit Level 2 or higher certification
Experience managing or growing a CrossFit program
Familiarity with gym management software (Zen Planner, Mindbody, Wodify, etc.)
Sales, marketing, or membership development experience
Personal training or specialty program background
Physical Requirements
Ability to demonstrate and coach movements effectively
Ability to lift and move fitness equipment safely
Capacity to coach multiple classes per day as needed
