Position Summary:

The Landscape Irrigation Technician is responsible for a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks, involving the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of irrigation systems (e.g., valves, controllers, mainlines, and laterals).

Responsibilities:

Experienced with troubleshooting and programming complex irrigation systems (e.g., Weathermatic Smartline Controllers and equivalents, 2-Wire Systems, valves, tracing, mainlines, laterals, etc.)

Performs grounds maintenance functions (e.g., pulling weeds, raking leaves) using hand tools (e.g., pick, shovel) or landscape equipment (e.g., lawnmowers, weed eaters).

Maintains tools and equipment to ensure safety and attends safety meetings.

Maintains parts inventory on vehicles.

Completes Irrigation Reports and Service Requests and is available for “on-call” emergencies.

Provides excellent service (e.g., accurate, complete, and timely) to clients, work-site partners, and company staff in a courteous and efficient manner.

Supervises and provides training to the Irrigation Assistant

Competencies:

Knowledgeable of Safe work practices

Experience with moderately complex irrigation systems (e.g., Weathermatic Smartline Controllers and equivalents,

2-Wire Systems, valves, tracing, mainlines, laterals)

Proficient in the use of grounds maintenance landscape equipment, hand tools safely, and basic mathematics

Experience with water management, plant identification, and their proper care

Familiar with reading blueprints and basic gardening principles (e.g., pruning, planting, watering)

Experienced with administrative processes (e.g., Irrigation Reports and Service Requests); computerized, centralized, and large-scale (i.e., 25 or more clocks) irrigation systems; moderate computer skills (e.g., Aspire, Smart Link, etc.

Qualifications:

2+ years of professional irrigation experience similar to that described above.

Clean driving record and valid license

Bilingual in Spanish and English, verbal and written, a plus

QWELL certified, Irrigation auditor, and the like, a plus
