We are looking for a wax sculptor/chaser to join our passionate team of creatives at Artworks Foundry. Ideal candidate is a highly driven team player with a desire to work with artists and art enthusiasts. We use the lost wax process of casting to produce bronze sculptures for artists. Our sculptures range from tabletop to monumental size. To see a 6-minute overview of the process do a search on YouTube - “National Sculpture Society lost wax casting process”. The wax chasing portion is between the 2 & 3 minute marks.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Use sculpting tools to clean up wax sculptures, i.e. remove parting lines, fix bubbles, correct/resculpt defects and duplicate textures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Experience with hand tools in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred. Must have an artistic eye.
Dependable, hardworking, self-motivated, and the ability to be a team player to maximize productivity and efficiency.
Able to communicate and work well with coworkers and be able to take direction from supervisors in a positive manner.
Able to identify and resolve problems in a professional manner.
Prepared to produce quality wax work consistently in a highly productive atmosphere.
Ability to work in an artistic environment and support artists needs.
Ability to read work order cards and complete the work necessary.
Take pride in their workmanship.
Expected hours: 30-40 per week
