PERK – No work Christmas or New Years!

Positions Available:

1. FOH Supervisor (2+ yrs experience required)

2. Line Cook (1+ Years Protein Experience Required, Wood Fired Oven Experience a plus)

Compensation:

1. FOH SUP Compensation: $20/hour + tips, highly subsidized housing, all utilities included except wifi

2. Line Cook Compensation: $18/hour + tips, highly subsidized housing, all utilities included except wifi

Couples Bonus: $500 after 1 month strong employment

- We realize that to live and work someplace new is expensive and so we offer some help in the form of a $500 bonus to assist with gas/travel expenses which is paid out after one month of employment.

This is a great opportunity to work for one of America's leading eco-glamping resorts. We are family built & operated, off grid and perched lightly on the land in Big Sur.

We are looking for a positive, hardworking couple to join our crew of 30 employees who share our ecological values along with a willingness to live in community, yet individually independent.

Treebones Lodge Restaurant

The heart of Treebones Resort, The Lodge Restaurant offers a Chef’s Four-Course Menu created by Chef Kyle Walker, where each plate is a love letter to local, seasonal ingredients, many of which are grown on-site in our organic garden. The Lodge offers a romantic indoor dining experience with ocean views and a wood burning fire (most nights!), and when the weather allows guests can also dine at the outdoor bar which faces the expansive Pacific Coastline, ideal for whale watching and wine sipping. All menu items purveyed with local ingredients wherever & whenever possible.

FOH Supervisor Responsibilities

- The Front of House Manager reports to the General Manager in effectively and efficiently managing a restaurant within the policies and guidelines of the company to ensure guest satisfaction, profit maximization and development of high performing work teams, which consist of servers & BOH team.

- Maintain a positive attitude in order to manage customer service and guest experience to the highest standard.

- Maintain strong organizational skills.

- Memorize and maintain proper knowledge of our seasonally changing food and beverage menu. Assure any updates or changes are communicated to all team members in a timely manner to maximize guest experience.

- Ensure that all team members are properly trained and uphold high standards of customer experience.

- Maintain up-to-date food handlers (Servsafe) and alcohol certification (RBS; Responsible Beverage Service Training) for yourself and all team members. Ensure all team members follow all state mandated food safety regulations.

- Provide training, feedback and support to all team members.

- Manage inventory and supplies. Ensure stock levels are maintained and any losses are accounted for.

- Handle complaints in a professional manner to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.

- Work directly with the Head Chef and back of house to ensure the restaurant functions efficiently.

- Uphold 100 percent organization and cleanliness in all storage and restaurant areas.

Line Cook Responsibilities

- Maintaining a positive and professional approach with coworkers & customers

- Assisting with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations

- Preparing food including cleaning & cutting the ingredients for breakfast, lunch and dinner

- Plating prepared foods based on Head Chefs guidance

- Assist with preparing food for lunch and 4 course $85 prix-fixe dinner service according to recipes, guidelines and standards set by the Head Chef.

- Ensures that the assigned work area has the proper level of par stocks and supplies according to daily production sheets.

- Always keep all refrigeration, equipment, storage and working areas in clean, working condition in order to comply with health department regulations.

- Visually inspects, selects and uses only food items of the highest standard in the preparation of all menu items.

- Properly label and date all products to ensure safekeeping and sanitation.

- Monitors waste and overproduction, as well as utilizes leftovers, ensures proper rotation and quality control.

- Assists Head Chef in monitoring and enforcing Company and Departmental safety policies, Health Department Standards and all other applicable.

- Effectively communicates with other chefs and service staff in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests.

- Works with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time

- Supporting deep cleaning of the kitchen & properly storing the equipment at the end of the shifts

- Ensuring that the kitchen operating procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards & regulations.

- Support prep & cooking for special holiday menus including Valentines, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving. As well as Treebones’ events, including concert series.

- Overall Strong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.

- This Line Cook is responsible for managing the kitchen on the chefs 2 days off.

All shifts must be willing to:

Work in all types of weather and inside units that can get hot inside depending on season

Stand for 7–8-hour shifts

Lift up to 25 lbs. using proper bending and lifting techniques

Walk up and down many stairs in a day and navigate hilly pathways

Schedule: You will each be scheduled to work an average of 5 consecutive days, shifts about 5-8 hours per day depending on the shift assigned.

Housing: Includes on-site housing with highly subsidized rent (roughly $500/month per couple). All utilities included except personal WIFI. It is workforce housing, meaning everyone living here must be employed and working. Housing cost comes directly from your paycheck biweekly.

Length of Commitment: This is a seasonal job. Our current season runs until December 22, 2023 & we will be closed until February 5, 2024. YES – you get both Christmas & New Year’s off annually which is rare in hospitality! During this closed time the team is furloughed & can apply for unemployment & we provide complimentary housing during this period – no rent will be charged so you can enjoy Big Sur & stay onsite or travel/visit loved ones.

Remote Location: We are very remote so those who enjoy independent living is best suited for this opportunity. Nearest grocery store is a 45-minute drive. If this sounds like an opportunity that catches your attention, we look forward to receiving your application.

Most cell phones do not work here, except for wifi calling. TIP: most of our full-time, long-term staff purchase Starlink for the internet, it’s very reliable. Individuals who have outdoor interests like hiking, photography and beach combing will appreciate the quiet 'down time' this also affords. As well as 'indoor' pastimes like crafting, art, readingduring the darker longer evenings.
