Research Program Supervisor, Pediatric Surgery (Hybrid Opportunity)School of Medicine, Stanford, California, United StatesNewResearchPost Date 5 hours agoRequisition # 104208Please note this position will be based on the Stanford campus and is a hybrid (working on-site and working from home) subject to operational need.From benchtop research to international programs, the Department of Surgery provides exceptional patient care, delivers outstanding undergraduate and graduate education, and furthers the field of surgery through innovative basic science and clinical research.The Division of Pediatric Surgery at Stanford University is seeking a Research Program Supervisor (Social Science Research Professional 2) to help develop and support outreach programs aimed at mitigating gun violence and childhood injuries by implementing school-based educational efforts and fostering community-based activism.Duties include:
Assist in designing experiments, exercising independent initiative and judgment gained from completing a variety of high level assignments, including activities such as defining variables, formulating hypotheses, and selecting subjects, sources of information, or planned and coordinating experimental protocols.
Adapt or work out the details of new, nonstandard procedures, with the supervisor providing general guidance and suggestions.Interpret, synthesize, and analyze data using scientific or statistical techniques.
Solve problems, and make decisions that affect the direction of the research and result in independent contributions to the overall project.
Select and apply standard calculations and formulas independently to compile data or process documents; often serve as a resource for research methods and numerical analyses.
Co-author sections of research publications and regulatory reports as needed.
Complete project-related administrative and budgetary responsibilities of a limited scope as needed.
Supervise staff or students as needed, including oversight and instruction on techniques, as well as consultation on project work.
- Other duties may also be assigned.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in public health, health administration , or related field.
Previous experience working on health services research projects.
Interest in working in a position for at least two (2) years.
Strong project management skills, including data collection from different participant types and timepoints.
Familarity with qualitative data organization software (e.g. SPSS, Tableau, ggplot2, NVivo, QGIS).
Strong interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Ability to understand scientific literature, experimental/quasi-experimental procedures and their limitations, and current needs of the research community.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):Bachelor of Arts degree in an applicable social science related field and two years applicable experience, or combination of education and experience in an applicable social science.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
Comprehensive understanding of scientific theory and methods.
General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs.
Strong analytical skills and excellent judgment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
Occasionally stand/walk, sit, use a telephone, writing by hand, and sort/file paperwork or parts.
Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl, rarely reach/work above shoulders, operate foot and/or hand controls.

The expected pay range for this position is $75,000 to $92,000 per annum.Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position.
