This is a full-time on-site role for a Mechanical Inspector at GC Machining located in Stockton, CA. The Mechanical Inspector will be responsible for inspecting and verifying the quality of mechanical parts and assemblies, interpreting blueprints and specifications, and documenting inspection results. The Mechanical Inspector will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve quality issues, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize inspection processes.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical inspection in a manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of mechanical drawings, GD&T, and inspection standards
Proficiency in using various types of measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMMs
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Ability to work in standing position for an extended period of time
Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting a visual and measurement test, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials
Approve in-process production by confirming required specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating the required adjustments to the production supervisor
Approve all finished products by confirming specifications and conducting required tests
Return products for re-work if needed and complete documentation to confirm re-work
Document and update inspection results by completing reports and logs
Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and calling for repairs. Ensuring test equipment is calibrated and working correctly.
Develop and maintain inspection reports
Perform inspections across all stages of production
Prepare and maintain test data for review
Maintain safe work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
Inspect precision machined parts using contact and non-contact precision systems such as, CMM, micrometers, calipers, and comparators for conformance to specifications, quality standards, and dimensional accuracy.
Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Investigate any quality issues to identify root cause and raise appropriate corrective action paperwork and ensure issues are addressed and resolved
Identify/segregate any non-conforming part utilizing the non-conformance reporting system
Analyzes and interprets blueprints and quality requirements to determine dimensional and tolerance specifications.

Accurately completes and maintains all required documentation.
Creation/completion of F.A.I.R. for any designated customer for inspection compliance
Overseeing and developing any First Piece requirements for inspection
Ensure all products flow through the inspection department
References to the Job Traveler to verify that is correctly filled to the level of the last operation performed and the correct quantities of parts are received, deburred, and subsequently forwarded to the next operation.
Completes all paperwork/documentation for all jobs performed.
Ensure all incidents of non-conformance are recorded
Ensuring production is not hindered by quality testing procedures.
Identifying possible areas for improvement in quality control processes.
Assists with related special projects, as required
Attend all required training
Accomplishes quality and Company goals by completing related results as needed
Identifies issues relative to tools/gages and/or process and documents them per company Quality Management System procedures
