Manzanita Montessori School is a nurturing and peaceful learning environment nestled in the heart of Ojai. We serve children ages 3–12 using the Montessori method, encouraging independence, curiosity, and a love of learning. We are currently seeking a qualified and caring Substitute Teacher to join our team on an as-needed basis to support our Primary classroom of 3-6 year olds.
As a Substitute Teacher, you will support our lead guides and maintain a calm, respectful atmosphere in alignment with Montessori principles. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who loves working with young children and is looking for flexible, meaningful work in a beautiful setting.
Qualifications:
● Minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units (required)
● Experience working with children ages 3–6
● Warm, patient, and attentive demeanor
● Familiarity with or interest in Montessori philosophy is a plus
● Reliable, communicative, and able to step into a supportive role with ease
● Montessori training or experience is a bonus, but not required
Responsibilities:
● Assist in maintaining a calm, prepared, and respectful classroom environment
● Support the lead teacher and classroom assistant as needed
● Ensure the safety and well-being of all children
● Encourage independence and respectful interactions among children
● Follow daily routines and classroom expectations set by the lead guide
