Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and self motivated individual to help with the day to day labor of our horse boarding stable as well as our citrus orchard. We are a small family business that cares for around 50 horses and grows about 25 acres of citrus. We have a small and wonderful group of employees that we value very much. One of them will be having surgery soon and will be off for at least 3 months. We are looking for someone to take over his hours while he out recovering. If this person enjoys being part of the team, we will still be able to offer them some hours after our regular employee returns.
Key responsibilities:
Work with other employees to care for horses. This included cleaning stalls and pens, keeping water buckets clean and filled and possibly feeding meals. The horses are cared for rain or heat 365 days per year.
Helping with basic maintenance of the horse facility.
Maintenance of the orchard including weed whacking.
Qualifications:
We are able to offer on the job training however experience will be taken into account when discussing pay.
Tractor experience a bonus.
Basic repair skills a bonus.
Work environment:
All work is outside.
Horses are cared for regardless of the weather 365 days per year.
Employees move wheel barrows full of manure as well as hay bales.
When working in the stable and the orchard there will be a significant amount of walking.
Hours for work in the stable begin a 7 am and usually last 3-4 hours unless there is extra maintenance. 2-3 days per week
Hours for orchard work are flexible and can be decided with ranch owner/ manager.
