R&D Specialist IIYOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe primary responsibilities of this role, R&D Specialist II, are to:

Achieve excellence in research processes and on-time delivery of high-quality data and results supporting crop protection research;

Be comfortable with shared responsibility for a specialized laboratory technology; autoclaving, restocking and maintaining supplies, including interactions with others within specialized area are essential;

Demonstrate planning and foresight;

Take initiative in developing new competencies and keeping current with developments in specialized area;

Assist with a wide range of laboratory tasks, including preparation of formulations, inoculating plants with plant pathogens, and testing treatments for bio-efficacy against plant pathogens;

Be compliant with federal and state permits when working with permitted or regulated biological materials;

Tend to healthy and pathogen infected plants, collect biological samples, request assays, ship or submit samples;

Solve routine problems requiring original thinking and deductive reasoning;

Organize and communicate specialized reports;

Participate and present in weekly R&D meetings.

High School diploma with at least 10 years of relevant experience OR Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree;

Experience working with plants and plant pathogens;

Experience working with insects;

Ability to plan and follow planned activities independently;

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office;

Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment;

Familiarity with the application of specialized scientific techniques;

Ability to support multiple projects via strong organization skills, have a good capacity for attention to detail and accuracy in data collection.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of Spanish language;

Understanding of team strategies and objectives, and the motivation to learn and constantly improve processes and tools.
