Effectively oversee fiscal responsibilities and the management of all funds of the BDC including grant and contract funds, clinical income, gifts, auxiliary, endowments, and state appropriations. Monitors and controls revenue and expenditure activity for each source of funds.

Facilitate financial planning and analysis and implement solutions regarding allocations impacting facilities, personnel, and operational procedures ensuring compliance with all regulating bodies.

Strategy

Lead the development, implementation, and continuous refinement of the center's long-term strategic plan, aligning with the broader goals of the Anschutz Medical Campus and ensuring integration with institutional priorities.

Provide leadership in data-driven decision-making, utilizing key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of strategic initiatives and implement course corrections as necessary.

Develop and implement strategies to increase and diversify funding streams, including grant opportunities, philanthropic donations, and institutional support.

Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to increase awareness of the center's impact, key initiatives, and funding needs among internal and external stakeholders.

Human Resource

Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate compensation plans for all employees, including the center's faculty clinical and research incentive plans, ensuring they are fair, equitable, and aligned with institutional standards and market benchmarks.

Regularly review and analyze compensation data to identify disparities or inequities within the center, making recommendations for adjustments and improvements to maintain fairness and compliance with institutional and legal requirements.

Operations and Compliance

Oversee the research administration team in the development, submission, and post-award administration of all Center grants and contracts (over $20 million in total extramural funding, annually).

Oversee the development and execution of process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, improving service delivery, and reducing costs across the center.

Oversee and direct all program fiscal, human resources, administrative and operational activities.

Work closely with the Childhood Diabetes Foundation (CDF), CU Foundation, and CHCO Foundation on coordination of fundraising and community service benefiting people with diabetes and BDC mission.

Provide direct and indirect supervision and mentoring to center administrative staff, fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture.

Lead planning and monitoring of clinical, research, and shared-use space utilization in the free-standing BDC building (113,000 sq.) as well as additional space in the Fitzsimmons Building.

Lead efforts to expand the center's influence and reputation in key research and healthcare sectors by developing partnerships with research, clinical, academic, and community stakeholders.

Bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, healthcare administration, or a directly related field from an accredited college or university.

Five (5) years of broad and diversified professional level management experience that includes fiscal and administrative management responsibilities within a complex health care, academic or biomedical research setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in business, business administration, finance, healthcare administration, or a directly related field is highly preferred.

Two (2) years of research administration experience or experience leading a research administration team.

Eight (8) years of responsible financial, administrative, and leadership experience in an academic medical center or healthcare setting.

Six (6) years of experience in research proposal development and financial grant management with varying federal funders.

Three (3) years of experience in clinical financial management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong financial management skills to include comprehensive understanding of academic medical institution financial structure and operational standards.

Demonstrated ability to manage funds effectively, from a variety of sources and with the use of a variety of financial management software applications.

Demonstrated ability to prepare and present analytical assessments and reports, and to communicate professionally and effectively both orally and in written form to both internal and external stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, implement and coordinate complex operational activities.

Outstanding customer service and team management skills.
