Position

Shining Mountain Waldorf School, founded in 1983, is an accredited Pre-K-12 nonprofit independent school located in Boulder, Colorado on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. We are recognized for our academic depth, experiential learning, artistic integration, wilderness experiences, and strong athletic program.

We are seeking a Human Resources Director to join our administrative team. This position is responsible for support and management of all employee related responsibilities including hiring, benefits, compensation administration, employee relations, compliance, and performance management. The position is a member of the senior leadership team and works closely with staff, faculty, the School Director, and school governance on employee related directives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Administrative

Post and manage all open positions; receive, review, record, respond and share resumes with hiring teams; participate in interviews and candidate vetting

With proper recommendation, work with School Director with an offer to favorable candidates

Understand compensation strategies and operational plans, ensuring that the organization’s compensation management systems are competitive in the marketplace

Complete all steps of SMWS onboarding, including new employee orientation, insurance benefit information, I-9 compliance, SMWS campus keys and email, etc

During offboarding - conduct an exit interview, share details and answer questions for separating employees’ information

Be responsible for collaborating with organizational leadership in the management of employee issues and support

Review compensation structure and current trends

Prepare all annual faculty agreements and staff compensation updates

Manage and maintain job descriptions for faculty and staff positions

Hold strategic alignment and awareness of employee relations, retention, and requests

Establish vendor relationships - Professional Employment Organization (PEO), insurance broker including workers compensation insurance

Payroll and Compliance

Coordinate employee set up in payroll to complete monthly payroll processing

Submit, review, obtain business director approval, and approve monthly payroll

Complete vendor payments including 401(k) contributions within time limits

Manage Workers Compensation - review of claims, monthly payments, annual audit

Compliance related HR activities not limited to 401(k) data compliance, 5500 and EEO-1 reports.

Review all employee terminations for compliance with state and federal laws

Annual review, updates, and notification to employees of employee manual

Complete annual employee background checks

Benefit Administration

Responsible for the day-to-day management and direction of benefits administration to include health and ancillary benefits

Manage employee education and enrollment of 401(k) benefit, monthly contributions through payroll, match and compliance

Counsel employees on benefit information

Coordinate and plan annual Open Enrollment presentations

Additional Responsibilities

In accordance with the SMWS philosophy, the person filling this position may occasionally be

required to carry out or assist with other tasks in accordance with the duties listed above

Education and Qualifications / Regulations

College degree in related fields such as business, management, or human resources

Requires a minimum of 5 years of HR management experience

HRCI Certification preferred - PHR or SPHR

Relationship builder

Experience in a collaborative work environment

Professional skills in managing human resources situations

Professionalism and Work Environment

Professional human resources leadership skills and adherence to core ethical conduct and principles, including following best practice policies, confidentiality, integrity of actions, establishing trust, complying with established employment laws, promoting fairness, fostering a fair and just work environment

Professional communication with clear and timely written and oral communications

Independent work - maintaining organizational, time management, and planning skills

SMWS office environment allowing daily campus interaction with colleagues, parents, and community members cultivating and building relationships

Present a professional demeanor and attire

Establish and participate in current human resources professional development organizations and webinars

Optimum office hours during school hours Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Google Suite, Office, HRIS experience, information systems

Salary, Hours, and Benefits

Full time, 40 hours per week, year-round Administrative position

This position continues to work during school calendar and break schedules

Salary - Range of $55,000 to $60,000 per year

Personal Time Accrual - 3 weeks per year

Sick Time Accrual - up to 48 hours per calendar year

Staff Holidays - up to 15 days each school year

401(k) - (SMWS offers a match (determined annually) when 1,000 hours are worked in a fiscal year)
