Dawson, a K-12 independent school of 530 students located east of Boulder on a beautiful 107-acre campus, seeks a Director of Development. The Director of Development will oversee the development office, including donor cultivation and stewardship, the Dawson Fund, capital campaign support, event planning, alumni relations, volunteer efforts, corporate/foundation outreach, and related communications efforts. This individual will develop and implement strategies, tactics, and metrics in each of these areas to maximize community support for all aspects of the school's operations and strategic priorities. An integral part of this role will be the ability to build relationships with parents, faculty, staff, students, members of the board, and others within the community.

Professional and Personal Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration or related field preferred
5+ years leading annual fund, capital, endowment, and/or similar campaigns
7-10+ years of increasing responsibility in non-profit fundraising, preferably within an independent school
Proven track record of fundraising success, particularly be securing major gifts, successfully managing campaigns, and engaging a community of motivated supporters
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all constituent groups
Personal warmth and friendliness
Leadership style that exemplifies teamwork and personal responsibility
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Strict confidentiality in all matters
Experience working in a small office setting
Mac OS; Blackbaud; Microsoft Office; Google Docs
Responsibilities
Develops and implements strategies to meet annual, restricted, and long-term (capital/endowment) fundraising goals
Recruits, develops, and retains an exceptional development team
Supervises two staff members in implementing a comprehensive, sustainable development/fundraising program and ensures that the department's work is professional and consistent with the school's mission and virtues
Implements all aspects of the Dawson Fund including designing campaign messaging, securing and overseeing volunteers, making presentations, writing annual fund correspondence, holding school-wide phonathons, and tracking participation.
Participates in Dawson community events and otherwise supports faculty, staff, students, and families
Publishes communications to support development, including the Dawson Guide to Giving, all Dawson Fund publications, and an annual report that recognizes donors for their contributions
Oversees all donor-related and community events (alumni gatherings, donor cultivation, donor recognition)
Researches and solicits foundation grants and corporate gifts
Works with head of school to set and meet short- and long-term fundraising goals
Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with major donors
