Position Title: Kuiper Chief of Staff - Space

Work Location: Supports Primary Customer in multiple locations to include but not limited to, Colorado Springs, Albuquerque, Seattle, and Washington DC.

Job Summary: Galapagos Federal Systems, LLC is looking fill the Kuiper Chief of Staff position supporting the space layer of space support missions. The Chief of Staff provides both business and technical expertise in supporting Kuiper develop cost affordable space solutions to spacecraft development, system integration, payload specifications, ability to Command and Control, as well as distribute information from their space constellation. To execute this, Kuiper Chief of Staff leads, directs, executes, and relays space concepts, hi level architectures, technical blue prints, initial requirements sets, and supporting information on executability and security to Kuiper's lead space element. The Chief of Staff will serve as Kuiper's go-to-person for all space related matters. The contractor will need both space operations and acquisition experience, with concentration on spacecraft elements. Personnel must have the requisite operational knowledge on space systems and their ability to operate in both nominal and hostile environments. Personnel must have outstanding collaboration skills to collaborate with US Space Force personnel to extract requirements and needs, and with Kuiper and other Amazon employees to translate those operational needs into technical specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Not listed in order of importance; other duties may be assigned) and must be able to perform the following with minimal guidance:

  • Provide advisory support for the duration of the period of performance. Chief of Staff will be an expert in space craft systems as they apply to a larger space construct.
  • Provide on-site support as defined by Kuiper's Space lead and regularly advise them on project status, deliverables and goal.
  • Understand DoD requirements that Kuiper's space and ground systems can support. Be able to relay those requirements into technical specifications.
  • Serves in the role of team leader over assigned support areas and instructing, directing, and monitoring the work of other project staff.
  • Provide strong management and direction, and is focused on high performance work.
  • Responsible for contributing to and leading engagement work plans and selecting, modifying, and using the appropriate consulting tools for each engagement.
  • Assumes responsibility for selecting and using appropriate consulting tools and resources for the engagement. Conducts analysis of work plan completeness, prepares inputs for status reports, and supports quality control practices. Performs analyses of fundamental client issues, assesses appropriate alternatives, and recommends solutions. Communicates expectations to project team, and escalates appropriate issues to senior level project staff. Maintains technical knowledge within industry and service line.
  • Conducts analyses of delivery problems and develops creative solutions and recommendations. This position also may perform organizational assessments, program audits, and evaluations, system alignment, and process and productivity improvement.

Education and/or Experience/Skills Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of consulting and/or directly relevant industry experience.
  • Experience includes: senior-level management and direction on client engagements, extensive experience in all aspects of leading a project, understanding business needs, experience in formulating project definition, isolating success factors, and aligning firm objectives with client needs.
  • Other experience includes management of local resources, administration of project work plans and processes, and core capabilities in information systems design and technical solutions.

Travel: Expected 40% Travel

Physical Requirements: Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have enough mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. May include lifting weigh up to thirty (30) pounds as necessary.

Security Clearance: DoD active security clearance may be required at a high-level security. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
