Bennett Forgeworks is looking for a motivated, diligent, team-oriented fabricator with outstanding fitting and welding skills.

We produce decorative, architectural, and structural steel components for the finest residences in Telluride and the Rocky Mountain Region. Attitude is our number one hiring criterion. We are looking for not only a talented fabricator, but a long-term colleague with whom everyone enjoys working. You must provide your own hand tools. Welding machines, consumables, bench tools, vehicles, etc. will be provided.

Job Summary:

Competency in MIG, TIG, ARC and Oxy Acetylene welding processes; able to produce excellent looking and functioning welds in difficult positions. Must be able to work in finished or nearly finished houses, and respectfully share work spaces with other trades on the work site. Grinding, sanding, filing to produce top quality surfaces.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist supervisor and management in problem solving and decision making as it pertains to the function of this company.

2. Be able to understand verbal instructions and turn them into descriptions and or sketches for approval.

3. Be able to read and follow shop drawings and interpret architectural drawings. An ability to spot and foresee issues and suggest improvements, including how our work will interface/impact other trades, is especially valuable.

4. Assist in planning of projects and schedules.

5. Recommend means and methods to increase shop efficiency.

6. Assist individuals outside of direct work area when required.

7. Follow the assigned project from the beginning through to the final installation.

8. Use knowledge and skills in the following areas is not required, but beneficial:

a. Manual Machine shop equipment

b. Blacksmithing

c. Metal finishing & patinas

9. Professionally communicate with job superintendents as well as existing and/or potential customers.

Benefits: One-week paid vacation after one year, two weeks after two years and three weeks after five years, four weeks after 10 years.

Interview Process: Following an introductory phone call, an on-site interview and fabrication test will be required to be considered for this position (allow for 4-8 hours for the test). For candidates outside of our region, a longer phone or zoom call will be scheduled before determining the next steps.
