The Institute builds on the long history of work in energy at CSU and is intended to foster greater collaboration among energy faculty across all eight colleges with broad access to facilities for faculty and industry partners. The Institute conducts research, education, commercialization and outreach activities for the entire CSU campus. Also, the Institute operates the Powerhouse Energy Campus, located north of the CSU main campus and provides safe, secure, and sophisticated facilities for university investigators and industry partners to collaboratively develop clean energy solutions. This position resides at the Powerhouse Energy Campus, which is an industrial working environment.Search Contact Emailkirk.evans@colostate.eduPosition SummaryWe are seeking a twoSummer Helpersto join ourPowerhouse Engines Lab Groupfor a13-weekperiod from late May/early June thru August. As a Summer Helper, you will work closely with senior staff members to support the setup, testing, and cleanup of our engines test facility. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic engineering environment.Position Minimum Qualifications

Education:Minimum of2 yearscompleted in an engineering program or a related field.

Availability:Able to commit to30 hours per weekfor the entire 13-week duration.

Interest in Engines:Passion for engines, mechanical systems, and performance testing.

Attention to Detail:Ability to follow instructions precisely and maintain accurate records.

Team Player:Willingness to collaborate with senior staff and contribute to the team’s success.

Adaptability:Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-On Experience:Prior experience with engines, automotive systems, or mechanical testing.

Coursework:Relevant coursework in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, or heat transfer.

Safety Training:Familiarity with lab safety procedures.

Technical Skills:Basic knowledge of data acquisition tools or instrumentation.

Assist with Setup:Collaborate with senior staff to prepare the engines test facility for experiments and data collection.

Conduct Tests:Participate in engine performance tests, data acquisition, and analysis.

Documentation:Record test results, observations, and any issues encountered during testing.

Safety Compliance:Follow safety protocols and guidelines while working in the lab.
