Job Description
Pilot Plant Maintenance Technician responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Demonstrates and promotes the company vision
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Applies GMP/GLP in all areas of responsibility, as appropriate
- Maintains a clean, sanitary, safe and well-organized working environment in the pilot plant and support areas.
- Maintains pilot plant equipment in good working order.
- Maintains parts, supplies, and documentation as required.
- Identifies and communicates potential equipment and facility improvements to supervisor. Optimize and improve operating efficiencies of equipment and systems.
- Supports equipment and facilities upgrades where skills allow (electrical, mechanical or other).
- Supports projects conducted in the pilot plant with equipment and production line set-up, testing, operation, clean-up, and tear-down.
- Assists in the support of plant trials and projects as directed by supervisor.
- Performs all duties with reliable results, following appropriate SOP’s, cGMP’s and NFL protocols.
- Cooperates with all Commercial and Innovation staff to meet business objectives.
- Maintains appropriate communication with staff and clients following The NFL’s communication policy.
- Provides a high level of customer responsiveness and interaction when customers are on-site during pilot plant trials
- Maintains personal training record, including job description, curriculum vitae (CV), and SOP training records per NFL requirements
- Other tasks as assigned and required.
- Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED, one or more years of college or technical training preferred.
- Mechanical, plumbing, or electrical skills are required. Experience in a Food Manufacturing or Packaging environment would be a plus.
- Knowledge of basic mechanical repair and maintenance of commonly used food processing equipment.
- Experience in electrical, metal working, machining, or welding.
- Ability to maintain a safe and orderly work environment; record, review, and understand SOP’s; maintain proper communication skills; work independently, exercise initiative and good judgment, and solve routine problems with minimal assistance or supervision.
- Must learn and practice the safe operation of a forklift truck, climb ladders, frequently lift, carry and/or push light to heavy materials, as well as stand and walk most of the day.
- Flexibility to easily transition from one task to another.
