Maxar is currently seeking a Satellite Ground Systems Operations Engineer to join our Missions Control System (MCS) team. Though the team is located in Westminster CO, we are open to a fully remote team member. The MCS Ops Engineers are responsible for support of the Ground System that operates the Maxar's Earth Intelligence spacecraft constellation. This role also supports design, development, integration, and testing of Maxar's next generation spacecraft. In this role, you will work as part of multi-disciplinary teams that include system engineers, software developers, spacecraft system engineers and the spacecraft operations teams. You will provide technical expertise in matters pertaining to the satellite ground system including ground equipment, satellite command and control, satellite telemetry, and payload backhaul and processing. What you'll do day-to-day (with your colleagues):- Support Worldview Legion launch and early operations (LEOP) and Worldview 1-3 and GeoEye-1 sustainment operations by monitoring and troubleshooting the Ground System
- Perform necessary troubleshooting at the application code and cloud infrastructure levels.
- Work in a broad technical scope, primarily with software, using analysis of data and logs.
- Utilize monitoring and alarming to ensure system are operating nominally or teams respond quickly to anomalies
- For the best design and implementation of the satellite ground system, collaborate with product owners, system engineers, software engineers, spacecraft operators, aerospace engineers, remote ground station engineers and IT engineers.
- You will share on-call, Tier 3 operations support with the backup of the software developers.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and be willing and able to obtain U.S. Government Secret security clearance
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field. Four years of additional experience may be substituted for a degree
- Minimum of 2 years of troubleshooting software
- Expertise in Unix and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash)
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot software systems
- Demonstrated ability to document technical information
- Demonstrated ability to switch between several technical tasks and keep track of open issues
- Troubleshooting experience for AWS-based systems
- Expertise with the following technologies: REST application interfaces, PaaS, Elk/Kibana, Jenkins, Ansible, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, Git, PostgreSQL/Aurora, Python, Ruby, C, RabbitMQ, Redis
- Experience being embedded with a software dev/test scrum team with a product owner
- Curious and self-motivated to learn new technologies
