Job Description
Summary: Designs, administers and supports enterprise-wide network environment. Advises and directs others on application of Wide-Area Network (WAN) / Metropolitan-Area Network (MAN) / Local-Area Network (LAN) systems and principles to support business goals. Responsibilities: 1. Achieves network and systems integration & resource optimization through performance of network/server assignments. Corrects problems. Ensures application of infrastructure quality standards. Creates & maintains project plans for assigned activities. 2. Maintains network/system reliability, availability, stability, integrity through utilization of network/OS management tools, IT industry standards & adherence & effective change management. 3. Prepares reports for Technology Center evaluation of quality indicators. 4. Maintains network stability and integrity through server tuning & network component optimization, performance enhancement & memory management, network performance monitoring, measurement & capacity planning & configuration. 5. Maintains maintenance & effective utilization hardware routers, hub-switches & servers. 6. Supports enterprise network security through design and implementation of network security technologies & industry standards. 7. Supports Information Technology knowledge management through documenting, maintaining and improving network/server standards, processes & practices & assisting others to do so. Guides & mentors Network Specialists 1 & 2. 8. Develops and implements formal performance improvement programs in support of overall departmental performance improvement goals. 9. Responding to service requests & events logged in departmental problem management & reporting system, maintaining contact with customers as required. 10. Troubleshoots & corrects problems through analysis, problem determination & root cause analysis. Assists others in the resolution of problems. Seeks technical assistance timely. 11. Supports team efforts and directs others in the effective application of network strategies by exhibiting strong communication skills, broad technical expertise, proactive approach & self-management style. Meets established milestones & schedules. 12. Maintains and enhances professional & technical knowledge & expertise in network technologies, topologies & protocols through learning events (such as attendance at formal training programs, industry seminars & self-education). 13. Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed. 14. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position. 15. Performs other duties as assigned. 16. Provides 24/7 support through investigation & analysis of problems using documentation, manuals, debugging tools & logic to resolve problems, prevent recurrence & ensure continuity. Takes remote call for off-shift, weekends & holidays as assigned. Other information: Minimum Experience: five years Desired: Degree in Computer Science preferred.
