Manager, Broadcast Design Engineering

NBC Sports is seeking a Manager of Broadcast Design Engineering to support the planning, implementation, and sustainment of technical systems used in live sports production, studio production, post-production, and other core broadcast environments. This role will manage day-to-day engineering design activities across studio, REMI, and field environments, translating production needs into technical solutions and ensuring projects are executed on time, within budget, and to NBC Sports’ quality standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical engineer with a strong understanding of modern broadcast infrastructure, IP-based media systems, and control workflows who thrives in a fast-paced live sports environment.Responsibilities:Design and document technical systems for remote production control rooms, studios, REMI fly packs, and remote broadcast environments.Oversee and implement system integrations, including IP video/audio, intercom, routing, monitoring, and control systems.Manage relationships with third-party system integrators and vendors to ensure systems are built, tested, and validated according to NBC Sports specifications and project timelinesSupervise a small team of staff engineers or contractors as assigned.Support the commissioning and handoff of new builds and system modifications, ensuring technical documentation and as-built records are complete and accurate.Create system drawings, signal flow diagrams, and rack elevations using tools such as AutoCAD and Lucid.Collaborate with production, operations, and technology teams to design solutions that meet show and network standards.Provide second-level engineering support for system issues identified by operations or maintenance staff.Participate in technical evaluations of new products and workflows.Assist in the design and deployment of backup, redundancy, and monitoring strategies to ensure reliability.Support the VP of Engineering & Technology with capital planning, system lifecycle management, and budget tracking.
