Description We are in search of an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in the non-profit sector based in Washington, District of Columbia. The role is part of a fast-paced environment, where you will be tasked with processing accounts payable and contributing to monthly accounting close and report processes. This role offers a short-term contract employment opportunity. Responsibilities: Ensure accurate and timely processing of full cycle accounts payable transactions on a daily basis. Review and process daily accounts payable, ensuring all information is recorded accurately and authorized appropriately for payment. Prepare and process weekly vendor payments in a timely and accurate manner. Execute all necessary steps for monthly Accounts Payable close, including the preparation of reconciliations and other reporting. Contribute to treasury management and reporting for domestic and foreign cash and investment accounts, including preparing and recording journal entries. Process cash disbursements and receipts, and respond to internal and external verification inquiries. Conduct day-to-day accounting operations, prepare journal entries, and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts within the closing schedule deadlines. Assist in external interim and year-end compliance work such as financial audit and 401k audit by preparing and reviewing audit schedules and reports. Engage in various department and company-wide initiatives and complete other ad hoc projects to support management reporting and analysis requirements. Assist with administrative tasks as necessary. Requirements Proficiency in Account Coding and Accrual Accounting Experience with Accounting Software Systems such as ADP - Financial Services and Concur Familiarity with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning Understanding of Accounting Functions and Accounts Payable (AP) Ability to conduct Auditing tasks Knowledge of Automated Clearing House (ACH) operations Prior experience in the non-profit industry is preferred Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is desirable High level of accuracy and attention to detail Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
