Our team members have what they need to make a meaningful impact and are truly valued for who they are and what they contribute.To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com (https://www.cibc.com/en/about-cibc.html)What you'll be doingThe Private Banking Regional Manager, East Region, will be responsible for leading, growing and managing a team of experienced private bankers & advisors through sales leadership skills in addition to sourcing new business opportunities to the organization.You will partner with internal CIBC Private Wealth Management, Private Banking leadership and group practice leaders to develop and implement a plan to deliver the growth expectations focused on loans, deposits, AUM and overall revenue and profitability. In addition, you will set the tone and pace of the market by directly participating in new client acquisition and retention, identifying new business development opportunities with/for the local teams whether direct to the market, through CIBC internal partnerships or other affiliated organizations.How you'll succeed

Responsible for balance sheet, profit loss & risk management metrics for private banking within the region which includes loans, deposits, banking fee income (e.g. derivatives, treasury management, foreign exchange, trade, etc.) and portfolio quality (e.g. loan portfolio quality, fraud management).

Grow the market with the focus on loans, deposits & new clients while also presenting opportunities for assets under management & introductions to others lines of business (e.g. commercial banking).

Recruit & manage a team of experienced private banking advisors, market managers, private bankers and associates to drive client acquisition and retention through consistent, measurable and repeatable activities.

Lead by example by identifying new and deepening existing client relationships; explore opportunities to provide additional credit and non-credit services. Serve as client’s primary internal resource as it relates to lending and deposit needs.

Create a positive work environment and be an effective role model by championing CIBC’s mission, vision and values. Assign work and manage performance by setting clear expectations and by providing fair and accurate formal and informal feedback.  Identify obstacles that hinder performance and coach to performance expectations to ensure they align with business priorities for the team. Arrange and coordinate professional development to maintain and increase investment industry, planning and product knowledge of the sales team. Proactively work to attract new talent and build strong talent pipeline.

Act as an ambassador for CIBC Private Wealth Management through active participation in local market and industry events to maintain current market knowledge and increase opportunities for client relationships.

Organize direct to market client acquisition campaigns, partner with internal CIBC organizations including CIBC Private Wealth Management, Commercial Banking & Capital Markets, plus additional external partnerships which focus on lending and deposits.

Ensure consistency in deal structuring to bridge client needs to appropriate risk mitigation through detailed analysis and underwriting of credit. Responsibilities may include presenting at Loan Committee. Quarterback to drive deals through the underwriting and closing process.

Collaborate with peers, and mentor junior team members, as part of a team to ensure delivery of superior client service.

Establish best practice client activity guidelines for the team and ensure all metrics are reported for tracking and analysis.

Ensure banking portfolio responsibilities are completed including portfolio reviews, renewals and collection of key financial information.

Responsible and accountable for the risk rating accuracy and risk identification on assigned portfolio. Seek to actively keep informed of changes to policy and procedure that will impact portfolio (credit policy, risk rating framework, regulatory, compliance requirements).

Active engagement with CIBC Private Wealth and cross line of business leaders to achieve total command of CIBC’s value proposition, in-depth knowledge of all products/solutions and efficient delivery of services to the market.

Ensure the local teams are prepared to develop client solutions through proper training, connectivity and engage CIBC practice partners when appropriate. Mentor, request training support and measure activity and results.

Identify local market best practices in sales and activity management, unique lending and deposit needs unmet by competitors, and deliver analysis of new business trends and achievements to the Head of US Private Banking and Mortgage, Private Banking group leaders and peers.

Who you are

Highly dynamic sales professional with a successful track record of relationship management and proven ability to effectively gather wealth management assets and deliver banking solutions.

You have a minimum of 15 years of experience developing and managing lending, deposit & asset management relationships with high net worth clients.

You have demonstrated experience applying deep credit expertise, working knowledge of investment portfolios and trust solutions.

Ability to foster and maintain Private Wealth relationships with high level of competency.

You have demonstrated experience working in a team environment, introducing the appropriate partners and suite of investment, trust and banking solutions to high net worth individuals, families and institutions.

You apply credit expertise, and identify risk, within a specific commercial banking industry or vertical.

You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Economics or related field. Formal credit training is a plus.

You are proficient in Microsoft Office products with advanced knowledge financial analysis and modeling.

You possess exceptional presentation, verbal and written communication skills combined with a style reflecting an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for growth.

California residents — your privacy rights regarding your actual or prospective employment (https://us.cibc.com/en/about-us/california-consumer-privacy-act-employment.html)At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package.  This role has an expected salary range of $215,000 - $285,000 for the New York, NY, Boston, MA, Washington, DC, and Atlanta, GA markets based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position.  The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
