An exciting opportunity has become available with this innovative and growing business in the form of an Accounting Manager for our US portfolio of Generator & Freehand hotels. The position will based with our US Finance team in Washington DC and will work with the US properties and London head office to manage the finance function for the US region. The role reports to VP Finance US with a close working relationship across the finance team and US operation.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Corporate Accounting Manager reports to the Vice President of Finance US and is responsible for preparing the financial information for assigned entities under the direction and review by the Vice President of Finance US. The position is responsible for assisting the Vice President of Finance US in all aspects of financial control, accounting and financial reporting for the corporate entities. The Corporate Accounting Manager's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, timely, responsive and accurate completion of the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Ensure compliance with debt and management agreements.
Assist the VPOF and corporate accounting team with the accounting of the US corporate office, monthend, budget, forecast, recharges.
Review general ledger account reconciliations.
Review and approve weekly, bi – weekly payrolls
Review and assist with the approval process of weekly and bi-monthly payrolls
Assist with the oversight and direct the activities of property DOF’s and/or staff accountant teams. Ensure compliance with US GAAP.
Review and approve prepaid amortization schedules and amortization journal entries.
Review amortization and depreciation schedule for intangible and tangible assets. Oversee CIP (Construction In Progress), Capitalization of fixed assets and depreciation.
Understand and review the accounting for 3rd party contracts (bar labs, etc) and support the property DOF’s with their management and relationships, ensuring timely reporting and cash settlements
Analyze monthly activities of the Medical plan, including large claims, stop loss reimbursements and IBNR (incurred but not received) claims
Work directly with the FP&A team to provide explanations for the variances between actual, budgeted, and prior period monthly profit and losses, across multiple domestic and international entities, explaining variances to budget and prior period actuals. Record accrual journal entries as needed.
Review and approve invoices and monitor the AP aging schedule to ensure debt service and other suppliers are paid timely and accurately. Manage the supplier setup process
Systems super user
Work with corporate team and DOFs on process improvement
Monitor the monthly search for unrecorded liabilities and record accruals as necessary.
Calculate and record allocation of shared expenses.
Prepare elimination entries for intercompany accounts and subsidiaries.
Prepare draft versions of the monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, statement of equity, and cash flow statement) to ensure their completeness and accuracy.
Assist the Vice President of Finance US with the monitoring of consolidated operations, cash flow and operating forecasts of assigned entities.
Compile supporting documents and explanations for internal and external auditors to meet the deadlines of annual financial statement audits.
Compile and support the preparation and review of annual tax filings, registrations and licences
Provide support in the preparation of the weekly and monthly cash flow forecast.
Other special projects and responsibilities as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Five to Seven years of related financial management, financial reporting and accounting experience. Hotel experience is a plus, but corporate level financial accounting experience is a must. Such experience can be supplemented with public accounting audit experience.
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance related required
Masters Degree in Accounting or Finance related preferred
Public accounting audit experience preferred
CPA license preferred
Strong PC skills including Excel and financial accounting systems such as Oracle
Strong organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication skills
Strong desire to adhere to U.S. GAAP financial accounting and reporting standards
Ability to work overtime as necessary to complete assigned duties
