Do you love to walk long distances in all kinds of weather? Do you love to read aloud and/or listen to audiobooks and podcasts? Are you energetic but also patient and flexible? Are you kind, reliable, super-responsible, conscientious, perceptive, caring, and have a strong work ethic?

We are looking for a positive, athletic, and high-energy person to work M-F from 4-8 pm and/or from 10-6 pm on Saturdays and Sundays to help ensure our active 16-year-old homeschooled daughter gets adequate exercise, stays away from screens, and doesn’t allow her brain to rot. Our daughter is a non-speaking person with neuromotor disabilities who communicates using alternative methods. The job will involve personal care support and monitoring for potential seizures. Experience with disability is not required.

Must be able to walk briskly for at least two miles without resting. We live about a 12-minute walk from the Ballston Metro in Arlington, and driving is not required for the position. Starting pay during a three-shift trial and training period is $18/hour, and will increase depending on skills, education, and experience.

We strongly prefer people who are looking for and can commit to a long-term, multi-year position. We are an LGBTQIA+ friendly household. Must be legal to work in the US, supply at least three references, and be willing to go through a background check.

If you are interested, please reply with a bit about a) why you are interested in the position, b) your background, c) your ideal work schedule within the options above, and d) your availability to begin if hired. If you have a resume, include that too. Thanks!
