Position Summary:

Must have the diagnostic ability and skills necessary to repair motor truck and/or heavy construction equipment including, but not limited to the following: Engines (gas and diesel), electrical/brake/cooling systems, transmissions (manual and automatic), hydraulics, power train, clutches, differentials/power dividers, PTO systems, fan clutches, engine electronics, power steering systems and steering gear boxes.

Job Description / Responsibilities:

Perform all levels of preventive maintenance service on truck and/or heavy equipment;

Identify warrant-able repairs and document on repair orders;

Maintain work area safety and orderly appearance;

Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions and/or to ensure that they are working properly;

Inspect braking systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, hydraulics and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition;

Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries and lubricating equipment / machinery;

Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance with factory specifications;

Specialize in repair work and troubleshooting.

Qualifications / Skills:

Minimum of three (3) years practical experience with truck and/or heavy construction equipment required;

Vocational / Technical certification beneficial;

Specialized training and experience in the diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines and transmissions), OEM training courses, ASE certification and 608/609 certifications is preferred;

Proficiency in the use of all tools of trade required, including welding equipment, diagnostic equipment and power tools;

Basic computer skills preferred for data entry into maintenance systems;

Ability to work in non-climate controlled conditions required;

Regular, predictable and full attendance is an essential function of the job;

Willingness to work overtime - important.

License Requirements:

A valid driver’s license required;
