Fleet Mechanic

We are seeking an entry-level Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a t least a two-year background in automotive and equipment repair, with the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues efficiently. This role requires hands-on experience with various mechanical systems, including small machine engines, swamp buggies, airboats, truck, trailers, mowers, ATV's, etc The Mechanic will play a crucial role in maintaining the operational efficiency of our equipment and vehicles.

Responsibilities:

Perform maintenance and repairs on fleet and equipment in the shop and in the field.

Operate vehicles and equipment for delivering chemical, supplies, or equipment to work sites.

Prepare maintenance repair orders accurately and timely.

Secure equipment safely to trailer.

Deliver and pick up equipment and fuel and dispense fuel.

Conduct inspection and maintenance of fleet vehicles and equipment.

Keep work area and shop organized and maintained in a clean and safe manner.

Evaluate used or spent equipment for future use or disposal.

Coordinate parts to maximize efficiency.

Fabricate and weld equipment when needed.

Operate a forklift.

Communicate daily with the VP of Operations.

Attend all appointments, meetings, and training sessions as directed by manager, client, and/or the HR Department.

Conduct support duties such as errands, routine maintenance, and shop cleanup as directed by the VP of Operations.

Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner.

Perform any other duties as directed.

Fully understand and adhere to all of AVC Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Safety Plans and Programs, and Handbook.

Conduct safety training, including tailgate training according to AVC’s Safety Program and Safety Officer.

Maintain appearance and attitude in such a way as to positively portray the company internally and externally.

Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Valid Florida driver’s license.

Minimum of two years mechanical experience.

Small engine and equipment diagnostic and repair experience.

Vehicle diagnostic and repair experience.

Heavy equipment hauling experience.

Airboat, swamp buggy, and ATV repair experience.

Working knowledge of computers and diagnostic software.

Time Management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

Excellent navigational abilities.

Planning: ability to think ahead and plan over a short time span.

Problem analysis and problem resolutions at both a strategic and functional level.

Ability to work in a diverse environment.

Commitment to AVC’s safety policies and procedures.

Commitment to AVC’s values and mission.

Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:

ASE Certification.

Valid Florida CDL Class B driver’s license.

Heavy equipment hauling experience.

Airboat, swamp buggy, and ATV repair experience.

Working knowledge of computers and diagnostic software.
