The successful candidate joins a dedicated clinical faculty within the Virgil D. Hawkins Civil Clinics at UF Law and will develop a law clinic to assist clients with clearing title to their homes through probate and to help them create modest estate plans to ensure the smooth transition of property at death. We are looking for a dynamic leader who can guide the students in learning how to resolve heirs’ property issues for clients, which will include learning how to obtain necessary title work to assist our partners and collaborators such as Three Rivers Legal Services, Pro Bono attorneys and legal professionals, prepare estate plans and draft real estate deeds. Students will also participate in community outreach and education, teaching homeowners about the risks and prevention of heirs' property. The director will organize and supervise student volunteers for projects such as assisting clients visiting the probate section of the Self-Help Center at the Alachua County Courthouse. This will be the first Heirs’ Property clinic in Florida and the leader of this clinic will be instrumental in seeking additional grant funding to expand services around the state. Initially, the clinic will have limited ability to serve residents outside Alachua County.
