We are seeking delivery drivers for night delivery routes. We use 26 foot box trucks, all are rated for Class-E drivers so we don’t require a CDL in the Gainesville Branch.
A DOT Physical is required to start, along with a drivers license. Pay is based on license class and experience. $15 - $16 starting is typical for an E-Class license.
Requirements:
Able to operate pallet jack
Able to lift / carry 50lbs
Able to stand and sit for multiple hours at a time
Able to communicate clearly both written & spoken
Able to pass drug screening & DOT Physical
Job Description:
We ship pallets of newspaper from the production facility in Gainesville FL to the respective distribution facilities. These are typically palletized shipments but sometimes we are required to handle individual bundles of newspaper.
Most of our routes require the use of a lift gate and moving of the pallets to respective storage or unload location at time of delivery. Some stops are in storage facilities or other warehouse style buildings.
Most routes are time sensitive, however we budget accordingly to prevent being rushed. These routes do require planning and time management on the part of the driver to ensure product is delivered in a timely manner without unnecessary delays.
Training is provided for many routes.
Driver Responsibilities / Expectations:
Complete a pre and post trip on the trucks they are taking.
Locate and load assigned product for delivery from the productions facility.
Plan a route for optimal safety and effectiveness (Efficiency is sometimes not a practical option, safety is always first)
Management of fuel and equipment (Repairs are not expected of the driver but reporting and monitoring of equipment functionality and safety is their responsibility.)
